What is Solar Power Generation?

Solar power generation is the conversion of energy from sunlight into electricity, either directly using photovoltaics, indirectly using concentrated solar power, or a combination.

How Does Solar Power Works?

Solar power works by converting light from the sun into electricity. This electricity can then be used in your home or offices. The light from the sun is tapped by solar panels and then fed into a solar inverter which converts the DC electricity from your solar panels into AC (Alternating Current) electricity, which is suitable for powering electric gadgets.

What are the components of solar power system?

A Solar Power/Energy System comprises of Solar Panels, Controllers, Solar Inverters, Battery and sometimes battery monitoring system and apps to monitor power solution remotely. In other words, a solar solution system is a complete power generating installation which starts from harvesting of Sun’s rays to Solar cells positioned at a point to conversion from DC to AC through an Inverter with MTTP/Charge controller monitoring voltage input for maximum current exchange, then the battery serves as energy storage firms rated in Ah at different voltages.

How do I get electric energy at night or on cloudy days?

When Solar energy is generated during the day, it is stored in storage devices such as batteries, which can then be used at at any time. Solar electricity works when Sun’s light is available because it is this sun’s photon that strikes the Solar panels that are converted to electricity for home and business use. During cloudy days, minimal energy can be stored since solar needs the Sun and at night it is only the capacity of the energy stored in the battery that the inverter converts for use.

Why is Solar Power Electricity so costly?

It is true that the initial cost of solar energy for home and businesses can be high just like the initial generation of all other sources of energy to the National and state grid but when the cost is spread over the lifetime of use, solar can then be used very cost-saving as it is well known that inflation will always increase the cost of National electricity to the residence, business, and Industry. It is expected that your initial solar installation should serve from 25 to 35 years depending on design, installation, quality of components, and the method of use.

How much will I save?

Not to mention of regular generator maintenance

Whereas, you can get a 1kva solar power system for 450,000 naira that can last you for more than 20 years. All you have to replace is the battery: some are replaced after 3 yrs, some 5 yrs, some 7yrs, 10 yrs. It all depends on the kind of battery you used for your installation.

How do I know the amount of energy I need to install?

You’ll have to fill our customer-quotation-request form. There you will supply answers to our various questions. One of the most important questions there that’ll enable us to calculate for you the required amount of energy needed for your installation is “listing all the electrical equipment that you intend to power with the solar power system, including their power rating”. After we receive your form, we will do energy auditing and give you feedback – the quotation for your solar power system project as well as their respective costs.

The number of solar panels you need for your installation is dependent on the number of batteries you’re installing as well as the capacity of the panels you’re buying

Is it compulsory to install solar panels?

Installing solar panels is not compulsory. You can decide to use the electric power grid and/or generator to charge your solar power system.

How long will my Solar Power System last before replacing the batteries?

A good Solar installation is meant to last for over 20 years as the line performance will decrease over time. Batteries have cycles. They don’t last forever. They are to be replaced as soon as they go dead. Battery longevity varies depending on the kind of battery bank you installed. Panels can last as much as 15 to 20 years. Their capacity reduces overtime. They can also be replaced and the system power output got back from the source.
